A nationwide survey by BigPond Movies has revealed that Aussie adults have voted children’s classic Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 as their number one film of 2011. And, surprisingly, when it comes to re-watching movies, adults are more likely to have seen animated classics such as The Lion King five times rather than expected favourites Ghost, Dirty Dancing and Forest Gump.

The findings suggest that parents probably love having an excuse to watch these movies with their children!

Interestingly, the BigPond Movies Index also revealed:
  • Aussies want to see Puss in Boots win Best Animated Feature Film at the Oscars this month, with a quarter of the nation voting it as Oscar-worthy
  • More than a third (34%) of 25-34 year olds have watched Disney classic The Lion King more than five times
  • A third of 35-44 year olds have admitted to having a soft spot for Ogres, having watched Shrek more than five times

Despite us enjoying animated films, it seems that we aren’t so keen on a festive flick with Arthur Christmas being least popular to win at the Oscars
