About National Assessment Program (Naplan) 2008 From 2008, the National Assessment Program (Naplan) will replace all the current State and Territory based assessments for all school students in Australia at Years 3, 5, 7 and 9.
The Program provides an unified system in assessing literacy and numeracy learning of all students. It is designed to provide information on student performance across a number of levels of achievement.
In NSW the Naplan tests will replace the Basic Skills Tests (BST), English Language and Literacy Assessment (ELLA), Secondary Numeracy Assessment Program (SNAP) and LANNA.
Each of the National Assessments will be held on the same day for all Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students across Australia.
