The common age for children to starts high school in Year 7 in Australia is about 12 years.
Once a student completes his or her School Certificate in Year 10 and reaches the minimum school leaving age, he or she can leave school to work or to attend vocational training.

Assessments and Exams during secondary school years
International Baccalaureate (IB) Course for high school graduates: A comprehensive and rigorous two-year curriculum (usually taken in the final two years of high school) that is similar to the final year of secondary school in Europe leads to award of a diploma. Some tertiary institutions in US and Europe award credit or advanced placement to students who have completed an IB program.
