Tangram is an ancient Chinese geometrical puzzle game. It has 7 geometrical shaped pieces. By moving around these 7 pieces, you can form different shapes, such as people, animals and many other familiar objects.

Tangram can be played by either following the pattern given or creating your own shapes. The shape has to contain all 7 pieces, which may not overlap.

It is a fun game that can be enjoyed by both children and adults. Tangram helps children develop spatial coordination and positive attitudes toward geometry, further their shape identification and classification skills, and foster theirunderstanding of basic geometric concepts and relationships.

On Ourkidz Tangram Page you can find the 7 pieces and a number of shapes and patterns that your children may want to try. There are many more choices of shapes and patterns to be added onto this page in the coming months.

Hope you all enjoy this game!

How to use

1 Print out the pattern which consists of 7 pieces for the game;
2 Cut the 7 pieces up along the marked lines (you may want to use thicker paper for easy handling);
3 Print out the shape’s page of your/ your child’s choice; and
4 Arrange all 7 pieces to fit them all into the shape
Note: Tangram is not as easy as it looks. However, if you or your child get stuck, you can always come back to this page to find either “clue” or “answer” under each shape.
